Sessions
Experienced and accredited CBT Therapist and
Trainee EMDR therapist
I am happy to have an initial free, no-obligation 15 minute consultation to help us to decide whether I may be the right therapist for you and for you to ask any questions that you may have. This can be done over the phone, by video call or in person.
If you decide to move forward with therapy, we will have an initial assessment session to gather information about your current, day-to-day difficulties and relevant history, so that we can build an understanding together of what you may wish to gain from therapy. This will help us to decide on a suitable treatment plan, how many sessions you are likely to need and an agreement of how we can measure your progress throughout treatment. Further sessions will then aim to develop an understanding of your difficulties and introduce skills and techniques to help you to move forward.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes long, although an extended session may be agreed upon occasionally based on your individual needs. The frequency of sessions is recommended to be weekly, as this has the strongest evidence base for the most effective treatment. Your time slot is reserved for you and, although we can work around prior engagements and I will endeavour to offer you an alternative appointment where possible, you are asked to provide as much notice for a cancellation as possible.

I have always had a desire to work with people, to understand their difficulties and work collaboratively to improve their psychological wellbeing. As a practitioner, I aim to work in a compassionate way, ensuring that you feel heard, valued and understood. I strive to provide high quality, evidence-based therapy which is goal orientated and tailored to meet your individual needs.
Having grown up in West Sussex, I moved for university and gained a degree in Psychology at the University of Bath in 2007. Since then, I have worked within mental health care settings in New York, London, Hampshire and West Sussex, gaining extensive experience treating a wide range of psychological difficulties and working with people from many different backgrounds, before settling back in the Chichester area. I qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in 2013 and have been practising within NHS Talking Therapies as a CBT Therapist, Senior Therapist and Supervisor for years. I have a particular interest in working with trauma, which has driven me to increase my knowledge and skills in this area and I am currently training in EMDR.
Although the work I undertake with patients is often short-term, there is no defined number of sessions and a course of treatment can be agreed upon collaboratively.
I am happy to offer an initial free 15 minute consultation by phone, video or face to face, so that you can determine if I am the right therapist for you.
